Heard about big hoo-hah over leslie kee's photography exhibition Superstars? It is a huge exhibition featuring 300 asian artistes/athletes/singers (mostly japanese actually) taken in oh-so-provocative poses. Quoting the media - "some full frontal nudity". But check this out, i stumbled upon his website last night and saw some of the photos, and they were done in such a tasteful way that it was more like fashion photography. Yes, the full frontal nudity shots were also featured, but really, dont expect much as everything are quite well concealed. Seriously, the photos were really wonderful (duh, its leslie kee).
The only deal it had in singapore was that it was waayyyyy too risque to be exhibited here, hence sparking one huge round of debate on media censorship. Otherwise, the information the media published didnt release much details. Turns out that this is a huge charity project for the 2004 Asian Tsunami (again from his website). Kee actually spent two whole years collaborating with 300 superstars, arranging schedules and photoshoots sessions with each and everyone of them. To name a few a few of them - Singer Ayumi Hamasaki and Model Anna Wantanabe (Jpn), Actress Gong Li and Olympic Diver Tian Liang (Chn), Actor Bae-Yong Jun and Singer BoA (Kor), Singer Wang Leehom and Actress Shuqi (Twn), Singer Faye Wong and Actor Tony Leung (Hk). Yes, all those big names (Gackt is in it...hah!) as well as a few uprising stars. Of course, Singapore also has her fare share, with Dick Lee and Christopher Lee. Yep, all those hot bods and great legs which make a great coffee table book.
Course, such a delightful book is made even more desirable when there are only 10000 produced, 7000 copies worldwide up for grabs (how i envy those 3000 people who got it for freeeeeeee), including 4000 limited Gold-Edged books. Each book comes with kee's autograph as well as a personalised message. The big catch - a US$300 pricetag. It is considered a huge bargain to get such a high quality book at this price, but for a poor student like moi who is barely surviving on a part time job, it is almost worth one month of my salary... *sob*
