Iit is well known that i am a klutz. Yes, to sum it up nicely by friends, i can trip over flat ground. So it is not surprising that i hurt my second toe (left) during training earlier on (thurs night duh). How you say? Now that was the interesting part. For once i didnt fall/trip. Instead, one segment of the tripod which i was trying to fix (the thin metal cylinder) slipped and landed straight onto my second toe - sharp metal edge first. Initial reaction was shock, followed by a searing pain and *gasp*, seeing a flap of skin hanging precariously off my toenail. Not skin as in the translucent layer...skin as in epidermis and dermis layer. Well done considering i was just about to START training. So i hobbled over to the front desk and requested for antiseptic and one plaster. The wound barely bled...in the initial stages that is. After i slapped the plaster on, blood blossomed across the thin cotton layer and seeped out. So i removed the plaster and applied ANOTHER one after dabbing away any excess blood, then resumed training in my pitiful state. The mere attempt of putting on my socks and shooting shoes was pure torture to my poor toe. Of course i shot like crap, i mean, who can focus on the target card when they have something throbbing painfully at the end of your foot?!
Thank god my dad was nice enough to fetch me home... it was raining and i was wearing sandals, which pretty much exposed my toe to the damp, harsh world. Yep yep, and he was nice enough to dress that wound as well (a bloody mess). Haha, what do i do without him? But my dad's used to it. Hello... he has a wound magnet as his daughter!
Speaking of which, i realised that i would have received some major injury every year. My list from 2003 onwards:
2003 - was rollerblading behind a cyclist on a rainy day and fell down. but since i was holding on to the cyclist, i got dragged for a few more metres, and my left hip had a good section of skin rubbed off. I had a HELL of a time training for sea games.
2004 - thankfully i couldnt recall, unless it is about the incident where i collided straight into the pillars along the corridors (and i swore i tried to avoid that pillar!). But the o's was damaging enough.
2005 - Fell down on the escalator and my shins got gouged. 2 deep marks which resembled a vampire bite. I was participating in a comic drawing competition then...24 hours w/o aid.
2006 - Fell off the bus exit... onto the hard ground of the bus stop. Classic i tell you. The bus driver was so shocked he got off and asked if i was okay. I managed to get up and assured him that i was fine other than abrasions on both knees. It was straight after the bus drove off that i collasped down again to find out that blood was flowing freely down my knees. SOS-ed my sis and she recognised me across the street via the "red streaks on your knees". This one was pretty bad as i couldnt even get up to walk. So my parents drove all the way from hougang (grocery shopping) to pick my sis and i from the bus stop. I love my family! *touched* oh yeah, and it was my dad (as usual) who dressed those knees.
And i still have those escalator scars (other than those in 2005) wayyyy back from 10 yrs old, my first ever escalator fall. hah!
who cares about bruises? i got loads of scars to tell!
